Linen is most associated with summer, but the garment that performs correctly in August heat does not disappear in October. The Gulf autumn. In Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, and the wider Gulf, the October to February period is the most pleasant time of year — temperatures between 20 and 30 degrees, low humidity, consistent sunshine. The Greek islands in October, the Italian coast through November, the Spanish Riviera into late autumn — these are the contexts where linen continues to perform as the main garment choice. The temperatures are in the 18–25 degree range; the light is exceptional; and the linen shirt in a deeper colourway — navy, a warm brown, a composed earth tone — reads correctly in the slightly more composed register that autumn destinations tend to have.
Layering. Linen works as a base layer in cooler autumn contexts.
