What to Wear in Trinidad and Tobago — The Complete PP Wardrobe

Trinidad and Tobago — Port of Spain, Carnival context, Tobago beaches, Buccoo Reef — two islands, two wardrobes.

Pieter Petros July 2026 5 min read Destination

Trinidad and Tobago is two islands of completely different character — Trinidad, the larger and more industrialised, home to the world-famous Carnival and a cosmopolitan capital in Port of Spain; Tobago, the smaller and more naturally pristine, with a growing luxury resort scene, the Buccoo Reef, and beaches that have drawn divers and naturalists for decades. The wardrobe serves both islands but reads very differently in each context.

For Trinidad — Port of Spain and the Carnival context. The capital's cosmopolitan restaurant and bar scene, the Magnificent Seven buildings of the colonial architecture, the cultural depth of a city that has produced Nobel laureates, world-class cricketers, and the most extravagant carnival in the Caribbean. For the city and the cultural occasions: a PP linen shirt in white or a warm natural with linen trousers and leather shoes. The Carnival period (February/March) is a specific and exceptional context — the clothing for Carnival mas participation is entirely different from the PP wardrobe; the PP collection is for the observer, the restaurant, the social occasion around Carnival.

“Trinidad and Tobago is two islands of completely different character. The wardrobe serves both but reads very differently in each — cosmopolitan Port of Spain on one hand, the pristine Buccoo Reef and natural Tobago on the other.”

— Pieter Petros, founder

For Tobago — the luxury resort and nature context. The reef at Buccoo, the beaches of Pigeon Point and Castara, the fishing villages, the growing luxury villa and hotel scene. White PP linen over natural swim shorts, leather sandals. The beach and natural environment combination for an island where the natural beauty is the primary draw. For the resort evenings: a PP linen shirt in a composed colourway with linen trousers and leather loafers.

For the nature experiences. The Little Tobago bird sanctuary, the rainforest interior, the leatherback turtle nesting season at Grande Rivière — natural fabric in earth tones for the outdoor and wildlife contexts. Covered clothing for the cooler evening nature excursions.
