What to Wear in the Kornati Islands — The Complete PP Wardrobe

Kornati Islands — 89 uninhabited islands, boat-first wardrobe, National Park restaurants, Šibenik gateway.

The Kornati Islands are one of the most extraordinary uninhabited archipelagos in the Mediterranean — 89 islands, islets, and reefs in the northern Dalmatian Sea, constituting a National Park since 1980. The islands are mostly bare limestone with dramatic geological formations along their seaward cliffs, the azure clarity of the Adriatic between them, and virtually no permanent inhabitants. They are experienced almost entirely by boat — the yacht charters that anchor in the sheltered coves, the day trips from Zadar and Šibenik, the sailing routes that thread through the channels between the limestone towers.

The boat-first wardrobe. The Kornati are experienced from the water — everything about the wardrobe is built around the boat. Natural swim shorts and a white PP linen shirt for the boat deck, the swimming at anchor, and the cove lunches. Leather deck shoes. This is the PP wardrobe in its most elemental form: the boat, the water, the natural fabric.

For the National Park restaurants. A small number of restaurants operate within the park — the fishing family konobe built in sheltered bays that serve the yacht charter community. The same combination carried from the boat to the restaurant without a change: natural swim shorts or linen shorts, PP linen shirt, leather deck shoes or leather sandals. No dress code; the setting is exclusively nautical and outdoor.

For the mainland gateway — Šibenik. The UNESCO-listed medieval town of Šibenik on the mainland coast is the most convenient gateway to the Kornati by boat. A PP linen shirt in white or a warm natural with linen trousers and leather shoes for the Šibenik old town — the Cathedral of St James, the fortress, the waterfront.

The Kornati philosophy. Bare limestone, the open Adriatic, the complete absence of commercial development — natural fabric in white and natural colourways is the only wardrobe that belongs here. Natural swim shorts, white PP linen, leather sandals. The most minimal and the most correct.
