Travelling with a Sauna Hat — How to Pack and Protect Natural Wool
Travelling with a sauna hat — packing correctly, using it at a hotel spa, drying before repacking, the dry climate note.
The PP natural wool sauna hat travels well — the felt construction is robust and the hat returns to its shape after compression if packed correctly. Understanding how to pack the hat for travel, how to use it at a hotel spa or resort sauna on arrival, and how to care for it during a trip maintains it in perfect condition across many journeys.
Packing the sauna hat. The PP sauna hat should not be crushed flat in a suitcase under heavy items — the wool felt construction is robust but sustained compression in a suitcase can cause deformation at the brim that requires reshaping. The recommended approach: place the hat in an open position with the crown down and brim upward, surrounded by softer items rather than compressed under heavy ones. A soft natural fabric pouch or the original packaging, if available, provides the ideal protection. The loop handle allows the hat to be hung inside a wardrobe bag alongside garments as an alternative to packing it in the main case.
“The PP natural wool sauna hat travels well — the felt construction is robust. After the session, hang by the loop handle in the hotel bathroom to dry before repacking. Fully dry before placing in the suitcase.”
— Pieter Petros, founderIf the hat has been compressed. If the hat arrives with some deformation from packing, reshape by hand while the felt is at room temperature — the natural wool felt has sufficient flexibility to return to its correct shape with gentle hand reshaping. Allow to dry in the reshaped position if any moisture is present.
At the hotel spa or resort sauna. Take the hat directly to the spa or sauna facility — there is no additional preparation required before use. After the session, hang by the loop handle in the hotel bathroom to dry before repacking. Fully dry before placing in the suitcase — a damp hat packed in a closed suitcase will develop an odour and take longer to dry.
The dry climate consideration. In very dry hotel environments (the air conditioning of Gulf hotels, for example), the wool felt can dry more quickly than in temperate climates. This is not a problem for the hat — it simply means the drying time after a session is shorter.
