The PP Linen Shirt for Women — A Complete Guide

On the PP women’s linen shirt — cut, proportion, and what makes it different from an adapted men’s block.

The PP women's linen shirt exists as a standalone garment — separate from the linen set, separate from the Amelia. It is the shirt in its simplest expression: Belgian linen, seashell buttons, a clean collar, a cut designed for a woman rather than adapted from a men's block.

The distinction matters. A men's linen shirt adapted for women carries the proportions of a different body — the shoulder falls differently, the chest has a different relationship to the waist, the length sits at an awkward register for the occasions women actually wear shirts in. The PP women's linen shirt begins from a women's pattern. The shoulder seam is set where it should be. The length is designed to tuck cleanly or sit correctly untucked. The collar behaves in the same quality of natural fabric as every other PP piece, but it is cut for a woman's throat.

“A women’s linen shirt begins from a women’s pattern. That is the reason the collar behaves correctly and the drape is right.”

— Pieter Petros, founder

The seashell buttons follow the same logic. On the men's shirts, PP uses walnut — warm, substantial, suited to the heavier hand of the men's Belgian linen. On the women's shirts, seashell — lighter, iridescent in natural light, chosen for the drape and weight of the women's cloth. The button is not decorative. It is a material decision.

Belgian linen in a women's shirt softens differently from the same cloth in a men's cut. The women's block has less structural tension — the cloth is allowed to drape more freely, to move with the body rather than holding away from it. This is felt in the first wear and becomes more pronounced across a season. The shirt that arrives already good becomes, by the end of the first summer, something more personal than that.

The PP women's linen shirt is available in the same colourways as the rest of the women's collection — White, Oyster, Vanille, Dubarry, Roosewood Pink. Each chosen for how Belgian linen carries it. Each accompanied by a certificate of origin.

Worn tucked into linen shorts or tailored trousers for the day. Open over the linen set blouse for the layered register. Alone, for the evening, with the seashell buttons catching the light at whatever hour the setting produces.
