From Nature, Back to Nature — The PP Sustainability Conviction
On what it means to make garments that begin as plants and return to the earth when done.
Every PP garment begins as a plant. The linen shirt begins as flax, grown in the soil of northern Belgium. The walnut button was a walnut. The seashell button came from the ocean floor. The corozo nut button grew on a palm tree in South America. When the garment is finished — when it has been worn across every season it was made for, when the linen has softened into the specific body wearing it and the buttons have developed the patina that use produces — it returns to the earth. Completely. No microplastics. No synthetic residue. No trace in the water system.
This is what biodegradable by design means. Not biodegradable as a feature or a marketing position. Biodegradable as the natural consequence of using only what came from the earth in the first place.
“If we take care of Mother Nature, Mother Nature will take care of us.”
— Pieter Petros, founderThe PP conviction was formed in 2016 on a Greek island where the taxis are horse-drawn carriages and the Aegean is still the colour it has always been. The founding question was not how to make fashion more sustainable — that framing assumes the current model as the default. The founding question was simpler: what if every element of the garment came from the earth and returned to it? What if the entire lifecycle of the cloth, the thread, the button, the lining was circular in the most literal sense — grown, made, worn, decomposed?
The answer is the PP collection. Belgian linen certified by origin. Seashell buttons from the ocean. Walnut buttons from the tree. Corozo from the palm. Handmade at a Dubai atelier by people whose names are attached to the work. Delivered with a certificate of origin confirming what the cloth is and where it came from.
This is not the most convenient way to make clothing. It produces a different result from the alternatives — which is the reason for it.
From nature, back to nature. The tagline is the business model.
