The polo club — from the Guards Polo Club at Windsor Great Park to the International Polo Club at Palm Beach to the Dubai Polo and Equestrian Club — is one of the most specifically observed sporting social occasions. The wardrobe that carries the polo club correctly sits between the sporting outdoor and the formally social in a way that few other occasions produce.
The dress code. Most polo clubs specify smart casual or smart dress for spectators — which means collared shirt, neat trousers, and leather shoes at minimum for the enclosures. The divot stamping (the tradition of replacing the divots kicked up during the chukkas, which spectators participate in during the half-time interval) takes place on the grass field and rewards footwear that can manage the turf. The Gulf polo season is played in genuinely pleasant temperatures; the natural linen wardrobe manages the outdoor conditions correctly.
For the Palm Beach International Polo Club. The Wellington, Florida polo season (January through April). A PP linen shirt in white or a composed natural with linen trousers and leather loafers. Palm Beach polo is one of the most socially observed in the Americas — the Sunday brunch tent before the match is as observed as the match itself.
