What to Wear to a Cricket Match — The PP Natural Fabric Guide

What to wear to a cricket match — Lord’s, the county ground, the Caribbean test, and for women.

The cricket match — from a county ground in England to an international test at Lord's to a Caribbean beach cricket game — is an occasion with a specific and well-established visual culture. The sport has a long tradition of considered dress among its spectators, and the wardrobe that carries a day at a cricket ground correctly is one that reads as smart, seasonal, and appropriate for a long outdoor day.

Lord's and the test grounds. The home of cricket rewards a wardrobe that is genuinely composed. The MCC members' enclosure at Lord's has a dress code that specifies smart dress — jacket or blazer, collar, no denim. A PP linen blazer in navy over a white PP linen shirt with linen trousers and leather shoes meets the Lord's dress code with a natural fabric combination that manages the English summer heat correctly.

The county ground. The county cricket ground — Edgbaston, Headingley, The Oval — is more relaxed than Lord's but still rewards composition. A PP linen shirt in white or a warm natural with linen trousers and leather loafers carries the county ground correctly from the first over through the tea interval.

The Caribbean test. Cricket in the Caribbean — Barbados, Antigua, Trinidad — is a different proposition: intense heat, a more festival atmosphere, the sound systems and the rum punch. A PP linen shirt in white over linen shorts and leather sandals manages the Caribbean cricket context correctly — composed enough for the pavilion, natural enough for the outfield.

For women. A PP women's linen set in a composed colourway — white or oyster for the English summer, a warm natural for the Caribbean — carries the cricket occasion correctly across all contexts.
