Sauna Hat Drying Guide — How to Care for Natural Wool After Each Session

Sauna hat drying guide — after a dry sauna session, after steam room, reshaping, the loop handle, long-term storage.

The PP natural wool sauna hat absorbs moisture during use — in a traditional sauna through perspiration, in a steam room through steam saturation. Correct drying after each session is the single most important care action for maintaining the hat's structure, its insulating performance, and its appearance over many years of regular use.

After a dry sauna session. The hat will absorb some perspiration during a dry sauna session but will not be significantly wet. After the session, remove the hat and hang it by its loop handle in a well-ventilated location at room temperature. Allow to air dry completely before the next use — typically one to two hours in a warm room. Do not compress or fold the hat while damp.

After a steam room session. The hat will be significantly more saturated after a steam room session — the 100% humidity environment means the wool felt absorbs considerably more moisture. After a steam room session, gently reshape the brim and crown by hand to maintain the correct structure, then hang by the loop handle in a well-ventilated location. Allow to dry completely at room temperature — this may take several hours. Never use a tumble dryer, a hair dryer, or direct heat sources. The wool felt will contract and harden irreversibly under applied heat.

Reshaping after drying. If the hat has lost some of its shape during the drying process, it can be reshaped gently by hand while still slightly damp — the wool felt is most responsive to shaping at this stage. Allow to dry completely in the reshaped position.

The loop handle. The PP sauna hat's loop handle at the crown is designed specifically for hanging between sessions and during drying. Use it. A hat stored flat on a surface while damp is more likely to develop permanent deformation at the brim.

Long-term storage. Store the hat hanging or resting on its crown — never compressed or folded. A cool, dry, well-ventilated location away from direct sunlight maintains the colour and structure between seasons.
