High Quality Belgian Linen — The Standard and What It Confirms
Belgian linen is not automatically high quality. The Belgian Linen® certification mark is the independently verified confirmation that it is. Flax grown outside the Belgium–northern France region can be labelled "linen" — and often is. Flax grown within the region and certified by the Belgian flax and linen industry body carries the Belgian Linen® mark. PP uses only certified Belgian linen in its qualifying garments — and the certificate of origin that ships with each one is the document that confirms this.
What the Belgian Linen® certification mark confirms. That the flax was grown in the Belgium–northern France region — the specific combination of temperate maritime climate, deep alluvial Flemish soil, and centuries of accumulated agricultural knowledge that produces a finer, stronger, more consistent flax fibre than any alternative growing zone. That the flax was processed within the same region. That the finished fabric has been independently tested and verified against the quality standards administered by the industry body.
