How to Care for PP Shoes — The Natural Fabric and Leather Care Guide
How to care for PP shoes — cleaning the natural fabric upper, protecting it, the leather sole, storage.
PP shoes are made from natural fabrics — velvet, silk, cotton, linen, or wool depending on the model — with Italian leather soles. Natural fabric shoes require different care from conventional leather shoes; understanding the correct approach maintains the appearance of the upper, the integrity of the leather sole, and the overall quality of the shoe across many seasons of wearing.
Cleaning the natural fabric upper. The natural fabric upper — whether velvet, silk, or another natural material — should not be cleaned with water or conventional shoe cleaning products. For velvet: use a soft natural-bristle brush in the direction of the pile to remove surface dust and debris. For silk: a clean, dry soft cloth gently wiped across the surface. For all natural fabric uppers: avoid water, liquid cleaners, and any abrasive cleaning methods. If a stain penetrates the fabric, contact PP directly for guidance on the specific fabric and stain type.

— Pieter Petros, founderProtecting the natural fabric upper. Natural fabric shoes are not waterproof — they should not be worn in rain or in conditions where water exposure is likely. A fabric protector spray designed for natural fabrics (not the silicone-based products intended for synthetic fabrics) applied before the first wearing and periodically thereafter can help protect the upper from light moisture and environmental soiling. Test any product on a small, inconspicuous area first.
Caring for the Italian leather sole. The hand-stitched Italian leather sole benefits from periodic conditioning with a natural leather conditioner — this maintains the flexibility of the leather and prevents the sole from drying and cracking over time. Apply a small amount of natural leather conditioner to the sole with a soft cloth and allow to absorb before wearing. Do not use synthetic conditioners that contain petroleum products.
Storage. Store PP shoes in their original box or in a natural fabric dust bag, away from direct sunlight and in a cool, dry environment. Use shoe trees (preferably cedar wood) to maintain the shape of the upper. Never stack shoes on top of each other, which can deform the natural fabric upper.
