PP linen trousers — made from certified Belgian linen with walnut buttons — require specific care to maintain their shape, colour, and the distinctive drape that Belgian linen produces. The care differs in some respects from the shirt care — the trouser construction and the walnut buttons require additional consideration.

Washing the trousers. Machine wash at 30 degrees maximum with a quality liquid detergent. The walnut buttons on PP linen trousers are natural wood and sensitive to prolonged water exposure at high temperatures — the 30-degree maximum wash protects both the linen fabric and the buttons simultaneously. Turn the trousers inside-out before washing to protect the button and the outer fabric surface. Never tumble dry.

The waistband and shape retention. Linen trousers can lose their shape at the waistband and knee after washing if dried incorrectly. After washing, pull the trousers into shape by hand — straighten the waistband, smooth the leg from waist to hem, and hang from the waistband rather than from the hem. Hanging from the hem creates drag on the wet fabric that can stretch the leg line.

Ironing the trousers. Iron PP linen trousers while still slightly damp, at the linen or high-heat setting on most irons. Iron on the inside (reverse) of the fabric for the best result — this produces a smooth finish without the shine that pressing on the right side can produce in linen. Press the crease of the trouser leg on the outside (right side) while slightly damp for a sharp defined crease.

The walnut buttons. The walnut buttons on PP linen trousers are natural wood sealed with a protective finish. Wipe clean with a dry cloth if soiled. Avoid extended soaking, which can cause the wood to absorb moisture and potentially crack or swell. The buttons are sewn with natural thread — if a button becomes loose, hand-sewing with a natural thread to match maintains the integrity of the construction.
