Biodegradable Luxury Clothing — The PP Natural Fabric Collection

Pieter Petros September 2026 5 min read

Most luxury clothing is not biodegradable. The polyester lining in the cashmere coat, the nylon zip in the leather jacket, the acrylic thread in the silk blouse — these components mean the garment will persist in landfill for centuries. Biodegradable luxury clothing — garments where every component is natural and will decompose without synthetic residue — is rarer than the luxury market's language suggests.

At PP, every garment is biodegradable by design. The certified Belgian linen outer: 100% natural flax, fully biodegradable. The natural linen, natural cotton, and natural wool used in other PP garments: fully biodegradable. The seashell buttons, walnut buttons, and corozo nut buttons: natural, biodegradable. The leather soles on the PP handmade Italian shoes: biodegradable. No synthetic thread, no synthetic lining, no synthetic button back anywhere in the collection.

The buyer who arrives at PP through the biodegradable clothing lens typically already understands that most "sustainable" fashion is not fully biodegradable — the polyester-blend "eco" collection, the recycled synthetic shirt, the organic cotton jacket with a nylon lining. They are looking for genuine full-garment biodegradability, which PP provides across the collection. The certificate of origin that ships with every qualifying PP Belgian linen garment is the verification; the natural composition of every component is the substance.
