What to Wear in Greece for Women — The Complete PP Wardrobe

What Greece asks of women — Cyclades, Ionian, Athens — and the PP women’s linen wardrobe for Europe’s widest range of warm-weather occasions.

Greece produces the widest range of warm-weather occasions of any European destination — the beach clubs of Mykonos, the caldera of Santorini, the ancient sites of Athens and the Peloponnese, the quiet coves of the Ionian islands, the old towns of Rhodes and Corfu, the private island resorts. For women, the Greek wardrobe needs to carry all of these contexts while managing the summer heat that is a consistent presence across every island and the mainland.

The foundation pieces. Two or three PP women's linen pieces in complementary colourways cover every Greek occasion from arrival to departure. White or oyster for the beach and the island daytime — colourways that belong to the whitewashed Cycladic architecture of Santorini and Mykonos in a way that darker or more synthetic-looking alternatives do not. Navy for the evening transition. Earth tones for the mainland cultural contexts.

For the Cyclades — Mykonos, Santorini. The visual standard at the beach clubs of Mykonos and the caldera restaurants of Santorini is specific and observed. A PP women's linen set in white at the Oia sunset, a linen blouse over swim bottoms at Scorpios — these read as appropriately considered in contexts where quality is noticed.

For the Ionian islands — Corfu, Lefkada, Kefalonia. The Ionian has a more settled, less socially intense register than the Cyclades. Natural linen in warm naturals and earth tones reads correctly on the north coast of Corfu and at the beach tavernas of Kefalonia.

For Athens. The Acropolis, the cultural institutions, the Monastiraki neighbourhood, the rooftop restaurant at sunset — a PP women's linen blouse or set in a composed colourway with leather sandals or shoes. Athens in summer rewards the garment that acknowledges the city's cultural weight.
