What to Wear in Normandy — The Complete PP Wardrobe

Pieter Petros August 2026 5 min read

Morning: the D-Day beaches at low tide, the sand flat and the channel grey-green beyond. Midday: the calvados orchards of the Pays d'Auge, the half-timbered farms. Evening: the Deauville promenade and the dinner at La Chenevière.

The Normandy climate. Normandy runs 15–22 degrees in summer — a long-sleeve PP linen shirt in white or a composed natural is the most appropriate garment for the Normandy outdoor occasion throughout the season.

“Normandy moves through three distinct registers: the D-Day beaches at low tide, the calvados orchards of the Pays d'Auge, and the La Chenevière dinner. The most varied regional arc in the PP journal.”

— Pieter Petros, founder

For the D-Day beaches and the American Cemetery. Omaha Beach, Utah Beach, the Pointe du Hoc. The solemnity rewards the most restrained and most composed PP wardrobe: white or navy with linen trousers and leather shoes.

For La Chenevière (Relais & Châteaux). The 18th-century manor house near Port-en-Bessin. Navy PP linen with linen trousers and leather shoes; the Spetses Blazer for the most observed La Chenevière occasion.

For Mont-Saint-Michel. The tidal island monastery. A PP linen shirt in white or warm natural with linen trousers and leather shoes. The grey granite of the abbey rewards natural colourways.
