What to Wear in Kefalonia — The Complete PP Wardrobe

Kefalonia — Myrtos Beach, Fiskardo, Melissani Cave, Argostoli — the PP linen wardrobe for the most dramatic Ionian island.

Pieter Petros July 2026 5 min read Destination

Kefalonia is the largest of the Ionian islands and the most dramatically beautiful — the limestone peaks of Mount Ainos above the forested interior, the turquoise waters of Antisamos Bay, the extraordinary Melissani Cave where the lake inside glows cyan in the afternoon light, and the Myrtos Beach, the most photographed beach in the Ionian, with its white pebbles and turquoise water enclosed by vertical grey limestone cliffs. Louis de Bernières made it famous internationally with Captain Corelli's Mandolin; the island has maintained its genuine character despite the attention.

For Myrtos Beach. The iconic pebble beach — the descent from the clifftop road to the beach below. White PP linen over natural swim shorts, leather sandals. The beach is exposed and the waves can be significant; natural swim shorts are appropriate for the water. The approach and the clifftop viewpoint reward natural fabric in white — the visual contrast with the turquoise and the grey limestone is specific and worth responding to with a composed wardrobe.

“Myrtos Beach — white pebbles, turquoise water, vertical grey limestone cliffs. Fiskardo — the only village to survive the 1953 earthquake. Kefalonia is the most dramatically beautiful of the Ionian islands.”

— Pieter Petros, founder

For the Melissani Cave. The underground lake — the boat ride through the cave, the cyan light through the opening in the cave roof. Natural swim shorts and a PP linen shirt for the boat excursion.

For Argostoli. The island capital — rebuilt after the 1953 earthquake, the Drapano Bridge, the evening volta along the waterfront. A PP linen shirt in white or navy with linen trousers and leather shoes for the town and the evening.

For Fiskardo. The only village on the island that survived the 1953 earthquake largely intact — the Venetian architecture, the yachts in the harbour, the most photographed village in the Ionian. A PP linen shirt in white or a warm natural with linen shorts and leather sandals or loafers. The harbour terrace restaurants of Fiskardo reward a composed resort casual wardrobe.
