What to Wear in Antibes — The PP Wardrobe

On the old town, Port Vauban, and Juan-les-Pins — the Belgian linen wardrobe for the French Riviera’s most authentically Mediterranean destination.

Antibes has a character that distinguishes it from the more intensely observed Riviera towns. Where Cannes operates at peak social visibility and Monaco at peak formality, Antibes has a more settled, more authentically Mediterranean register — the old town within the Vauban ramparts, the Picasso Museum in the Grimaldi Castle, the enormous yacht harbour of Port Vauban, the beach at Juan-les-Pins. The wardrobe that reads correctly here is one that is considered without being performative.

The summer climate in Antibes is quintessentially Mediterranean — warm and dry, temperatures between 26 and 33 degrees, with the Riviera light that makes natural fabric and natural colour read at their best. Belgian linen in a warm natural or white colourway belongs in this light and this setting.

“Antibes rewards the wardrobe that is considered without being performative. Natural linen in the Riviera light belongs here more than the conspicuous alternative.”

— Pieter Petros, founder

For the old town and the Picasso Museum: the cobblestone lanes within the Antibes ramparts, the covered market on Cours Masséna, the museum in the castle above the sea — these are contexts that reward a garment that has considered the setting. A PP linen shirt in white or a warm natural with linen trousers and leather shoes carries the old town morning and the museum afternoon correctly.

For Port Vauban: one of the largest yacht harbours in the Mediterranean, Port Vauban and the quayside of Antibes is a context where the superyacht wardrobe applies. Navy PP linen with linen trousers and leather loafers for the evening quayside walk and dinner.

For Juan-les-Pins: the beach and the pine-shaded streets of Juan-les-Pins have a more relaxed register than the old town. A PP linen shirt with linen shorts, leather sandals — the summer afternoon combination.
