The Vision That Became PP
The Vision That Became PP
On Spetses in 2016, a conviction that arrived before its time, and a brand that was built to answer a question the world had not yet fully asked.
Spetses is a Greek island where the taxis are horse-drawn carriages. No cars. No noise beyond the sea, the cicadas, and the particular quiet that settles over a place when it has been protected from the pace of the modern world. The harbour is quiet. The pine forests come down to the water. In late summer the light holds longer than it should.
In 2016, after seventeen summers on this island, a conviction arrived. Not a business idea — a conviction. That clothing should exist in harmony with the natural world. That the materials worn against the body every day should come from the earth and, in time, return to it. That luxury and nature were not opposites — that at their finest, they were the same thing.
PIETER PETROS began there.
What the brand was built on was simple: 100% natural materials, handmade with care, worn in the world's finest settings. Belgian linen — certified by origin, grown from flax in the particular soil of northern Belgium and France. Seashell buttons sourced from the ocean. Walnut buttons from the tree. Corozo nut from the palm. Nothing in a PP garment that did not begin in nature and could not, eventually, return to it.
"The vision on Spetses was not about fashion. It was about how to live — and what to wear while doing it."
— Pieter Petros, founderWhat became clear in the years since was that the conviction arrived before people had fully articulated it. The desire for natural clothing, for materials that work with the body rather than against it, for a wardrobe built from things that came from the earth — this was already present. PP was simply prepared for it before the conversation fully arrived.
The brand is now present at One&Only Aesthesis, One&Only Kéa Island, Four Seasons Puerto Rico, Park Hyatt Dubai, Sofitel, The St. Regis, and Surf Club Dubai. The men's collection and the women's collection carry the same materials and the same standard as the first piece made in 2016. The atelier is in Dubai. The linen still comes from Belgium. The buttons still come from the earth.
The founding conviction has not changed. The world has simply moved closer to it.
A lifestyle of abundance, in harmony with nature.
That was the vision in 2016. It remains the only one.
