The PP Shoe — Everything You Need to Know

The complete guide to the PP shoe — construction, materials, personalisation, care, and the four-to-six week handmade process in Italy.

The PP shoe begins before it exists. When an order is placed, a pair of shoes starts to be made — not pulled from a warehouse, not assembled from pre-cut components, but begun by hand in an Italian workshop by the craftsman who will complete it from start to finish. The process takes between four and six weeks. The result is a pair of shoes that exists in one size, in one colourway, with one embroidered personalisation: PP or your own initials.

The construction. Each PP shoe is handmade using traditional Italian construction methods. The upper is cut and shaped by hand. The sole is hand-stitched using the Goodyear welt or Blake construction depending on the design. The lining is Italian leather — soft enough to wear without socks, structured enough to support the foot correctly. The embroidery on the insole is applied after all other construction is complete, confirming the personalisation before the shoe is finished.

“The PP shoe is made for the person who orders it. It arrives as the finished version of what was ordered — four to six weeks after the conversation that began it.”

— Pieter Petros, founder

The materials. Velvet exterior and Italian leather interior in the signature designs — the MIAMI, the CAPRI, the MONACO. The velvet provides the visual character that distinguishes the PP shoe from standard luxury loafers; the Italian leather lining provides the comfort that makes them a shoe you forget you're wearing until someone asks. The natural materials throughout mean the shoe ages correctly rather than degrading.

The personalisation. Every PP shoe is personalised with either the PP monogram or the owner's own initials, embroidered into the insole lining. This is not a visible feature — it is known only to the wearer. It is the kind of detail that a maker includes because it is correct, not because it can be seen.

The care. The velvet exterior responds well to a soft brush used after each wearing to maintain the nap. The leather lining benefits from occasional conditioning. The sole, being hand-stitched, should be resoled by a skilled cobbler when the time comes rather than replaced — the upper and lining of a well-made PP shoe will outlast several soles.

The delivery. Four to six weeks from order to delivery. The PP shoe is not available to buy off the shelf. It is made for the person who orders it and arrives as the finished version of what was ordered.
