The PP Natural Materials Guide — Every Fabric in the Collection Explained

Pieter Petros August 2026 5 min read

The PP collection is built from natural materials alone — no synthetic fibres, no polyester, no microplastic-releasing fabrics. This guide explains each natural material in the collection: what it is, where it comes from, why it was chosen, and how it behaves.

Certified Belgian linen. Made from flax grown in the Belgium–northern France region and carrying the Belgian Linen® certification mark. The hollow-core flax fibre breathes in heat, wicks moisture, and improves with every correct wash. Used in: men's shirts, the Amelia dress shirt (Coral Orange, Violet, Oyster, Hibiscus colourways).

Natural linen. Made from flax grown outside the Belgian certification zone. Similar properties to certified Belgian linen, slightly different character. Used in: men's shirts, the Amelia dress shirt (Pink, Blue, Lemon Yellow colourways).

Natural swim shorts. Made from a natural fabric — the specific composition is confirmed on the pieterpetros.com product page. 100% natural, 100% biodegradable. Not synthetic.

Natural wool. Wool from the sheep's fleece — a renewable, biodegradable natural protein fibre. Provides thermal regulation appropriate for the sauna environment. Used in: PP sauna hats (nine colourways).

Natural fabric uppers (PP shoes). The uppers of the PP handmade shoes are made from a range of natural fabric choices — velvet, silk, cotton, linen, or wool depending on the design. Each upper is 100% natural. The sole is leather.

Natural seashell buttons. The buttons on most PP linen shirts are made from natural seashell. 100% natural, 100% biodegradable. Walnut buttons: the Monte-Carlo Male men's shirt and the Amelia Oyster women's shirt. Corozo nut buttons: the Spetses Blazer — carved from the nut of the palm tree, a vegetable ivory, 100% natural.
