Zakynthos — Zante in the Venetian tradition — is the southernmost of the main Ionian islands, best known internationally for the Navagio Shipwreck Beach (the rusted freighter on the white pebble beach enclosed by vertical white limestone cliffs, accessible only by boat) and for the loggerhead sea turtle nesting beaches on the southern coast.
