What to Wear in Sicily — The Complete PP Wardrobe for Men

Sicily — Greek temples, Palermo Arab-Norman, Val di Noto baroque, Aeolian Islands — the PP men's wardrobe.

Pieter Petros July 2026 5 min read Destination

Sicily is the Mediterranean's most dramatically diverse island — the Greek temples of Agrigento and Selinunte, the Arab-Norman architecture of Palermo, the baroque towns of the Val di Noto (a UNESCO World Heritage cluster of eight towns), the volcanic landscape of Mount Etna, the salt pans of Marsala, and the luxury resort beaches of the Aeolian Islands and the Scala dei Turchi. The wardrobe that carries Sicily correctly must respond to cultural visits, outdoor landscapes, beach occasions, and the evening social register of Sicily's growing luxury restaurant scene.

For the Greek temples and archaeological sites. The Valley of the Temples at Agrigento, the archaeological parks of Selinunte and Segesta — significant walking in significant heat. A PP linen shirt in a warm earth tone or natural with linen trousers and leather shoes. The ancient stone of the Doric temples rewards natural fabric in warm natural and earth colourways.

“Sicily's Greek temples, Arab-Norman architecture, UNESCO baroque towns, and Aeolian Islands produce the full range of occasions that define Mediterranean summer dressing. Natural linen carries every context the island produces.”

— Pieter Petros, founder

For Palermo and the Arab-Norman heritage. The Cappella Palatina, the Martorana, the Zisa palace — the religious and cultural sites of Palermo require covered dress. A PP linen shirt fully buttoned with linen trousers. The city's specific Arab-Norman aesthetic — the fusion of Byzantine, Islamic, and Norman architectural traditions — is best approached in natural fabric in warm naturals and earth tones that connect to the building materials.

For the Val di Noto. The Baroque towns — Noto, Ragusa Ibla, Modica, Siracusa — the most architecturally concentrated UNESCO heritage in Italy. A PP linen shirt in white or a warm natural with linen trousers and leather shoes for the town visits; the same combination or linen shorts for the more relaxed afternoon.

For the beaches and the Aeolian Islands. Mondello near Palermo, the Scala dei Turchi white marl cliffs, the Aeolian Islands — Stromboli, Panarea, Lipari — accessible by ferry from Milazzo. Natural swim shorts and a white PP linen shirt for the beach and the island ferries, leather sandals.
