What to Wear in Bali for Men — The Complete PP Wardrobe

What Bali asks of men — beach clubs, rice terraces, temple visits, villa culture — and the natural PP linen wardrobe for each context.

Pieter Petros June 2026 5 min read Destination

The general Bali article covers the destination broadly. This piece addresses what Bali asks of men specifically — the beach clubs, the rice terraces, the temple visits, the villa culture, and the specific aesthetic of a destination that has developed one of the most considered visual cultures in Southeast Asia.

Bali's wardrobe has a specific set of requirements that differ from most beach destinations. The heat and humidity ask for breathable natural fabric. The Hindu temple visits require covered shoulders and covered legs. The beach clubs of Seminyak and Canggu have a social visual standard. The rice terrace walks and the Ubud cultural context have an entirely different and more considered aesthetic. The natural linen wardrobe — specifically in earth tones and warm naturals — carries all of these correctly.

“The natural linen wardrobe — in earth tones and warm naturals — carries every Bali context correctly: the beach club, the rice terrace, the temple visit, the villa evening.”

For the beach clubs — Seminyak, Canggu, Jimbaran. Potato Head, Finns, the clubs along Seminyak beach — a PP linen shirt in white or oyster over swim shorts or linen shorts. Open at the collar, leather sandals. The natural fabric that belongs in Bali's aesthetic.

For the rice terraces and Ubud. The walk through the Tegallalang rice terraces, the Monkey Forest, the markets and galleries of Ubud — earth tones and warm naturals in linen. A PP linen shirt in a warm natural or sand colourway with linen trousers (preferred for the cultural context and the muddy paths that rice terrace walks sometimes involve).

For the temple visits. Covered shoulders and covered legs. A PP linen shirt, long-sleeved or rolled up, with linen trousers — the most comfortable way to meet the dress requirement in tropical heat. Natural earth tones are respectful in the Balinese temple context.

For the villa and evening. The private villa pool, the dinner at a beachside restaurant — white PP linen for the casual villa evening, navy for a more composed dinner.
