Linen and Rest — Why Natural Fabric Matters After the Day Ends

On the register of the day after the occasion ends — and why the PP linen shirt belongs there too.

The question of what to wear after the day ends is one most people answer by default rather than by choice. The shirt from the day, left on a chair. Or a garment bought specifically for the purpose and worn only then. Neither is wrong. But there is a third option that most people have not considered: the PP linen shirt, worn loose and open, as the garment for the long evening hour after the occasion has ended.

Belgian linen in the evening is different from Belgian linen at noon. The same cloth that holds its composure through a formal afternoon settles differently when the temperature has dropped and the occasion has dissolved. Worn open at the collar, sleeves rolled to the forearm, over linen shorts or simply alone — the shirt in this register is the clearest expression of what the cloth does when it is not being asked to perform. It breathes. It drapes freely. It holds the warmth of the day without concentrating it.

“The PP linen shirt covers every register of the day — including the ones after it.”

— Pieter Petros, founder

This is the hour that most wardrobes are not designed for. The end of the dinner, the terrace after midnight, the long quiet before sleep. The PP linen shirt extends the natural wardrobe into this hour without requiring a separate garment. The same cloth. A different way of wearing it.

For the woman who wears the Amelia through the evening: the same principle applies. The seashell buttons undone to the third. The sleeves loose. The curved hem moving in whatever air the night produces. The Amelia at the end of the day is a different garment from the Amelia at the beginning of it — more personal, more relaxed, more itself.

Natural fabric does not change its character when the occasion changes. That consistency is the quality worth having.
